Description

Provides technical expertise, guidance and advice to operational and/or maintenance Supervisors to resolve complex operational issues at assigned site.
  • Acts as technical expert in a specific area of operations at assigned site
  • Provides technical expertise to resolve major production/maintenance problems
  • Is generally the highest level technical position for this area at assigned site
  • Will have broad and deep background, knowledge and understanding of a specific process and associated equipment
  • Monitors maintenance schedules and reviews historical maintenance records for plant and equipment, to help identify potential and existing problems
  • Having identified a problem, determines the root cause and recommends what action should be taken to resolve and/or prevent production/maintenance issues occurring (or re-occurring)
  • Leads project teams working on identified production/maintenance problems; team members may be internal or external (vendors or contractors)
  • Serves as technical expert on complex maintenance planning
  • Collaborates with Planners and others involved in the planning of production shut-downs
  • Keeps abreast of technological improvements in field of expertise and how these impact operations at assigned site
  • Conducts regular training, in area of technical expertise, for staff in operations, maintenance, etc.
    at assigned site, ensuring employees remain up-to-date with technological advances and how they impact operations at site
  • Generates ad hoc reports and analysis for site management
  • May represent the site on company-sponsored steering teams
  • Actively participates in site safety processes, and in collaboration with site management, helps to incorporate safe working practices in the day-to-day activities of all operations and maintenance staff
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED and seven (7) years of experience in mining industry or manufacturing environment (within maintenance and/or operations), including Project Management experience
Preferred
  • Has strong computer skills.
    SAP, Microsoft applications, including Project (Gantt Charts).
  • Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff from various levels throughout the organization.
  • Able to develop and maintain strong positive working relationships.
  • Value seeking in setting priorities, iterative approach to solving problems.
  • Engaged in the process, providing support to customers/stakeholders at all levels.
  • Budgetary and forecasting aptitude.
    Able to set and maintain a budget.
  • Proficient in managing contractors in a maintenance/production atmosphere.
  • Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques.
Criteria/Conditions
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws

Freeport-McMoRan has reviewed the jobs at its various office and operating sites and determined that many of these jobs require employees to perform essential job functions that pose a direct threat to the safety or health of the employees performing these tasks or others.

  • Site-based positions, or positions which require unescorted access to site-based operational areas, which are held by employees who are required to receive MSHA, OSHA, DOT, HAZWOPER and/or Hazard Recognition Training; or
  • Positions which are held by employees who operate equipment, machinery or motor vehicles in furtherance of performing the essential functions of their job duties, including operating motor vehicles while on Company business or travel (for this purpose motor vehicles includes Company owned or leased motor vehicles and personal motor vehicles used by employees in furtherance of Company business or while on Company travel); or
  • Positions which Freeport-McMoRan has designated as safety sensitive positions in the applicable job or position description and which upon further review continue to be designated as safety-sensitive based on an individualized assessment of the actual duties performed by a specifically identified employee.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
